The microsite for the National Gallery of Australia's Collection was built to provide an interactive and immersive way for users to explore the gallery's vast collection of art. Using the NGA's public API, the microsite groups all records by tags and locations, and creates various data visualizations to make it easier for users to browse the collection.
To optimize the user experience, all the data used in the website was saved prior to creating relationships, which extended the exploration on the NGA site for users. The website was designed to be user-friendly, with an intuitive interface that allows users to browse the collection by tags, locations, or a combination of both. The data visualizations include interactive maps, timelines, and other interactive elements that make it easier for users to discover works of art and learn about the history and context behind them.
As a developer on the project, I was responsible for creating the data visualization tools and ensuring that all data was properly saved and indexed for optimal performance.
